Epidemiological Pattern of Lassa Fever Outbreak in Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria, 2014 to 2019 认领

Introduction: Annual outbreak of Lassa Fever (LF) has been reported in Ondo State over the years. We analyzed LF surveillance data from January 2014 to December 2019 to describe the epidemiological pattern of the outbreak. Method: Lassa fever dataset from January 2014 to December 2019 was obtained from the State Ministry of Health. Variables analyzed include date of onset of symptom, age, gender, place (Local Government Area, LGA) and outcome of laboratory test. Data were summarized using frequencies, proportions, chart and maps. Results: From January 2014 and December 2019, 2141 suspected LF cases were reported. Of these, 551 cases were laboratory confirmed with 134 deaths recorded. The LF cases (suspected vs. confirmed) reported increased in 2016 (73 vs. 19), 2017 (207 vs. 76), 2018 (452 vs. 159) and 2019 (856 vs. 285) respectively. Most of the confirmed cases (89.5%) were ≥15 years while more than half (53.7%) were males. Prior to 2016, only two LGAs (Owo and Ose) recorded continued transmission of the disease. However, between 2016 and 2019, the disease had spread to 8 neighboring LGAs (P < 0.001) with the CFR declining from 67% in 2015 to 20% in 2019. Conclusion: We found an unusual increase in the suspected LF cases reported between January 2016 and December 2019 with a corresponding increase in the confirmed cases and high annual case fatality rates. Hence, we recommend intensified surveillance activities to enhance timely reporting of cases and laboratory confirmation to ensure early commencement of treatment to reduce the case fatality rate. 展开更多

This paper presents a study on bioinspired closed-loop Central Pattern Generator(CPG)based control of a robot fish for obstacle avoidance and direction tracking.The biomimetic robot fish is made of a rigid head with a pair of pectoral fins,a wire-driven active body covered with soft skin,and a compliant tail.The CPG model consists of four input parameters:the flapping amplitude,the flapping angular velocity,the flapping offset,and the time ratio between the beat phase and the restore phase in flapping.The robot fish is equipped with three infrared sensors mounted on the left,front and right of the robot fish,as well as an inertial measurement unit,from which the surrounding obstacles and moving direction can be sensed.Based on these sensor signals,the closed-loop CPG-based control can drive the robot fish to avoid obstacles and to track designated directions.Four sets of experiments are presented,including avoiding a static obstacle,avoiding a moving obstacle,tracking a designated direction and tracking a designated direction with an obstacle in the path.The experiment results indicated that the presented control strategy worked well and the robot fish can accomplish the obstacle avoidance and direction tracking effectively. 展开更多

In this paper,a tool for the detection and diagnosis of anomalous electrical daily energy patterns relative to a transformer substation of a university campus was developed and tested.Through an innovative pattern recognition analysis consisting in a multi-step clustering process,six clusters of anomalous daily load profiles were identified and isolated in two-year historical data of total electrical energy consumption.The infrequent electrical load profiles were found to be strongly affected,in terms of both shape and magnitude,by the energy consumption behaviour related to the heating/cooling mechanical room.Then,a fault-free predictive model,which uses artificial neural network(ANN)in combination with a Regression Tree,was developed to detect anomalous trends of the electrical energy consumption.The model was able to detect the 93.7%of the anomalous profiles and only the 5%of fault-free days were wrongly predicted as anomalous.Eventually,a diagnosis phase was conceived and validated with a testing data set.A number of daily abnormal load profiles were detected and compared with the centroids of the anomalous clusters identified in the pattern-recognition stage.The work led to the development of a flexible intelligent tool useful for operating a continuous commissioning of the campus facilities. 展开更多

The content and distribution pattern of rare earth elements(REEs)in surface sediments from the Eastern and Western Pacifi c Ocean,the Northern and Southern Atlantic Ocean,and the Southwestern Indian Ocean were explored and the resources and geochemical characteristics of REEs in deep-ocean sediments from diff erent oceans were studied.The total REE abundances(ΣREE)in the diff erent oceans ranged as follows:Eastern Pacifi c,56.88–500.02μg/g;Western Pacifi c,290.68–439.94μg/g;Northern Atlantic,55.33–154.90μg/g;Southern Atlantic,40.83–69.30μg/g;and Southwestern Indian Ocean,20.24–64.76μg/g.Their corresponding LREE(La-Eu)/HREE(Gd-Lu)average values were 5.18,5.86,9.01,5.21,and 4.59,which indicated that the light REEs were all evidently enriched.δEu andδCe showed slight Eu-negative anomalies and signifi cant Ce-positive anomalies in all sediments.Although the contents of REEs in the sediments varied among the diff erent oceans,the distribution patterns of REEs were similar,and the correlation coeffi cient was greater than 0.9290.In the Eastern Pacifi c sediments,ΣREE showed a signifi cantly positive correlation with Co,Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo and a weak correlation with Fe.In the Western Pacifi c and Southern Atlantic sediments,ΣREE presented no obvious correlation and a weakly negative correlation with Co,Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo and Fe,respectively.ΣREE in the Southwestern Indian Ocean sediments positively correlated with Cu,Zn,Mn,Mo,Fe,and had a weakly negative correlation with Co. 展开更多

The wingless-related integration site(WNT)proteins are a family of secreted glycoproteins that are evolutionarily conserved and are believed to be involved in evolution in vertebrates and invertebrates.WNT signaling pathways may be associated with limb regeneration and development in crustaceans.However,the detail mechanisms remain unclear.Therefore,the distribution of WNT4 in the hepatopancreas,muscle,hemocyte,ganglion,heart,eyestalk,gill tissue,and diff erent larvae development stages of the swimming crab(Portunus trituberculatus)were characterized using immunofl uorescence,real-time PCR,and Western blotting.Signifi cant PtWNT4 expression was detected in heart and eyestalk.In addition,PtWNT4 was expressed in all larval stages of P.trituberculatus with a dynamic expression pattern,especially in the eyestalk and other organs in the carapace area.The injection of WNT4 dsRNA into regenerative limbs signifi cantly decreased PtWNT4 mRNA levels in the eyestalk,heart,and muscle,resulting in 1.9-fold,2.2-fold,and 2.7-fold decreases compared with those detected in the group injected with crab saline(P<0.05),respectively,indicating successful gene silencing.Overall,expression analysis on the WNT4 using RNAi provides an insight to its functional mechanism during limb regeneration in P.trituberculatus.The results not only demonstrated the requirement for WNT4 in limb regeneration of Crustaceans,but also suggested its ability to promote larval development at specifi c stages. 展开更多

To refine the microstructure and improve the mechanical properties of AZ91 D alloy by expendable pattern shell casting(EPSC),the mechanical vibration method was applied in the solidification process of the alloy.The effects of amplitude and pouring temperature on microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ91 D magnesium alloy were studied.The results indicated that the mechanical vibration remarkably improved the sizes,morphologies and distributions of the primaryα-Mg phase andβ-Mg17 Al12 phase,and the densification and tensile properties of the AZ91 D alloy.With an increase in amplitude,the microstructures were gradually refined,resulting in a continuous increase in mechanical properties of the AZ91 D alloy.While,with the increase of pouring temperature,the microstructures were continuously coarsened,leading to an obvious decrease of the mechanical properties.The tensile strength and yield strength of the AZ91 D alloy with a vibration amplitude of 1.0 mm and a pouring temperature of 730℃were 60%and 38%higher than those of the alloy without vibration,respectively. 展开更多

Heat transfer of R134 a through the microchannel with an inlet reentrant cavitation structure was investigated for high flux thermal management of electronic devices.The cavitating flow patterns,pressure,and heat transfer characteristics were studied in the range of effective heat fluxes from 0 to 138.4 W/cm2 with mass flow velocities from 2.12 to 5.23 m/s.A stable and ideal starting point of two phase flow and heat transfer was commendably provided by the inlet cavitation orifice.There existed an axis deviation liquid jet after the micro-orifice.The refrigeration vapor was generated from the cavitation structure but liquidized at the downstream of the channel.The wall temperature along flow orientation presented an opposite trend under the test states with or without heat input.The cavitation structure can significantly suppress the flow oscillation in microchannels and the outlet pressure fluctuation reduced about 72%compared with the fluctuation at the entrance.The heat transfer coefficient had been distinctly impacted by heat flux at lower heat input and then maintained the value nearly constant of 11.0 W/(cm^(2)·K)with the critical heat flux of 88.4 W/cm2. 展开更多

BACKGROUND In growing patients with skeletal discrepancies,early assessment of functional factors can be vital for the restoration of normal craniofacial growth.AIM To compare airway volumes in patients with mandibular retrognathism with the normal anteroposterior skeletal relationship,thereby assessing the association between cephalometric variables and airway morphology.METHODS Cone-beam computed tomography volume scans,and lateral cephalograms,3-dimensional airway volume and cross-sectional areas of 120 healthy children(54 boys and 66 girls mean age 15.19±1.28)which were done for orthodontic assessment were evaluated.The subjects were divided into 2 groups based on the angle formed between point A,Nasion and point B(ANB)values and cephalometric variables(such as anterior and posterior facial height,gonial angle etc.)airway volumes,and cross-sectional measurements were compared using independent t tests.Pearson’s correlation coefficient test was used to detect any relationship of different parts of the airway and between airway volume and 2-dimensional cephalometric variables.RESULTS Means and standard deviations for cephalometric,cross-sectional,and volumetric variables were compared.ANB,mandibular body length and facial convexity were statistically highly significant(P<0.01)whereas condylion to point A,nasal airway and total airway volume(P<0.05)were statistically significant.The nasal airway volume and the superior pharyngeal airway volume had a positive correlation(P<0.01),nasal airway was correlated to middle(P<0.05)and total airway superior had a relation with middle(P<0.05),inferior and total airway(P<0.05),middle was related to all other airways;inferior was also related to all the airways except nasal.Lateral cephalometric values were positively correlated with the airway volume with Frankfurt Mandibular Plane Angle and facial convexity showed significant correlations with total airway volume(P<0.05).Additionally,ANB angle was significantly correlated with total airway volume and superior airway(P<0 展开更多

水土资源平衡是耕地合理开发与利用的前提,为定量评估粮食主产区水土资源平衡关系,促进耕地可持续利用,该研究提出“以水定地”的耕地配置模式,并以三江平原腹地的挠力河流域为研究区,在多源水土信息数据支持下,依据农田土壤水分平衡原... 水土资源平衡是耕地合理开发与利用的前提,为定量评估粮食主产区水土资源平衡关系,促进耕地可持续利用,该研究提出“以水定地”的耕地配置模式,并以三江平原腹地的挠力河流域为研究区,在多源水土信息数据支持下,依据农田土壤水分平衡原理构建水土资源平衡模型,以评估水土资源平衡态势,进而揭示该流域耕地合理利用规模特征。结果表明:1)2000年以来,挠力河流域水田持续扩张,旱地轻度萎缩,至2018年其水田化系数已达37.33%,垦殖率为62.61%。旱地和水田的水分胁迫蒸散能力处于同一水平,但水田的水分亏缺量显著高于旱地;2)当前,挠力河流域的灌溉供水量范围为21.23~211.91 mm,富锦市、友谊县和集贤县处于水资源超载状态,且水田均呈“土多水少”状态,饶河县、宝清县、七台河市和双鸭山市辖区则“土少水多”;3)依据“以水定地”耕地配置模式,该流域水田面积可增加11.02万hm2,对应的水田化系数控制在44.76%以下。富锦市、友谊县和集贤县应适度控制或减小水田利用规模,宝清县应成为未来“旱改水”的重点备选区。研究结果对挠力河流域乃至三江平原的耕地有序开发及保障农业可持续发展具有重要现实意义。 展开更多
